PSA: Tagging and You

So I typically start on AC halfway through the check period, since at least half or more are done before the weekend. And I'm noticing this usually just a character here or there, but then I see this post of Giblert's in which nobody is tagging their character on the post.

Now, typically, if I see someone's post has 20+ comments and two other people tagged on it, I can safely assume they've passed. Usually I'll just go in and make sure there's no multi-part comments and call it a day. That post was 20+ comments... and no one else tagged.

Now, I'm not particularly bothered who tags it. Doing it yourself is typically best. I typically post a comment and tag the post in one fell swoop. Sometimes the post creator will tag people, which I've done from time to time. I'm aware several people have had more experience in journal-based games than comm-based. As long as that tag ends up there, I'm happy.

Because any post that is not tagged does not count towards Activity Check.

I use tags for AC. I go through character by character and go just far enough to ensure they passed. I'm only going to find the posts you've tagged. And, for example, if I'm in a post looking for Kotetsu, I'm focused on finding his tags and will glaze right over Rozalin's tags without paying attention, which will be a problem if she's not tagged. And if, in this example, Kotetsu posted and there's 90 comments and two people tagged? I'm not even going to look in. That's done, I can move on, and I won't see any untagged comments.

You can post your activity in the AC if I say you haven't met it and you totally have. If it's a case that you were still tagging in an older post, I try to go back a few days but it's completely possible I'll miss that. That's fine. If it was because things haven't been tagged, I'm not going to be a very happy camper and you don't get your AC memories.

I'm doing my damnedest not to single anyone out, but my cards are effectively laid out on the table. Questions? Comments? Concerns?

Hooray I'm an example orz

I'm awful with tagging myself. I tend to only do it whenever the thread is a decent amount sobs ._.; I'll just tag right away if I comment on the post from now on.

Someone else must have tagged them for me :< As a rule of thumb I tend to only tag entries if they have gotten pretty far. I'm in another game where we have to tag for comments and it's one where thread drops are often (like after 1-2 comments). So I only do it after a significant chunk has been done o/

But if it's easier this way, I'll do it. B) Just a matter of changing my habits.

Still the same person, just a different account.

I can do either or. I'm in games where AC is done by mods and where AC is posted by the players. I like how relaxed it is here by the mods doing it and the game is small enough that we can look out for others by tagging for them.

Two can play that game.

Thanks for the input! I like the fact that we can look out for each other, myself.

I blame LiveJournal for being so lazy.

Me too :) It makes the game a lot friendlier!

The game has to be friendly to offset me. *sagenod*

I don't know if you've considered it, but it may take a lot of workload off of you to have us post our own activity checks. Twenty people taking five minutes to find their links is much easier than one person spending an hour finding everyone's links.

But anyway!
The tagging thing, yeah, I'm trying to get better at it and I actually just went back and tagged all of mine right before this announcement went up, aha.

Well, I mean... I'm not complaining. =P It's five minutes less work for me, but it seems to be a lot of work for you. As long as you're OK with handling it, though!

It's good that it encourages me to tag, though. Since I suck so bad at doing it. I think I never tagged any of my Planeo responses.

It's therapeutic after a while. Gives me a chance to focus on something else at night.

...by being a mod, that ends up being the best Adam Jensen line I've ever typed. Classy!

It helps later on down the road as well, when people are all, "oh man, you remember that time Palom did that thing in that log?" and you go "uh" and just click the tag and BAM. DONE. Not even hiding the fact that I think tags are awesome.

why is the old man on there did he do something again I'm not going to pay for anything he broke

Anyway! Jokes aside, I myself tend to forget to tag the entries I comment in. I'll definitely try to rectify this soon.
